The Chicago White Sox have shut down pitching prospect Dylan Cease for the remainder of this season. Cease reached an innings limit and won’t pitch again until 2019. The right-handed pitcher went a combined 12-2 with a 2.40 ERA in 23 starts between Single-A and Double-A.
Cease was acquired last season in a trade with the Chicago Cubs that also included Eloy Jimenez in exchange for Jose Quintana. After going 9-2 with a 2.89 ERA in 13 starts with Winston-Salem, Cease followed that up by going 3-0 with a 1.72 ERA in 10 starts with Birmingham.
