White Sox management can't expect status quo to work in 2016

Chris Sale is closing in on the Ed Walsh's 107-year-old franchise strikeout record and still has an outside shot at reaching the 300-strikeout mark.

But when your team is as inconsistent as the White Sox, it's hard to enjoy your own accomplishments.

"It's cool to talk about, to talk to your buddies and your family about stuff like this," Sale said after increasing his league-leading strikeouts total to 248 in a 3-2 loss to the Indians.

"But I see a (reporter) wearing a postseason lanyard right there. You don't get to the postseason with strikeouts. You don't get to the playoffs with fancy numbers and stuff like that.
