The Chicago White Sox announced the hiring Monday of former great Aaron Rowand as their minor league outfield and base running instructor.
Rowand, 38. batted .283 with 211 RBIs over five seasons with the Sox and was one of the leaders of their 2005 World Series title team.
"This is a great opportunity for me to give back to the organization which gave me my professional start,” said Rowand, who completed an 11-year career in 2011 after playing for Philadelphia (2006-07) and San Francisco (200-11). “As everyone knows, I have a deep passion and loyalty to the White Sox, so I’m excited to help the organization anyway I can.
