Each year, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum honors one of baseball's broadcasters with the Ford C. Frick Award, presented for excellence in broadcasting, and two of Chicago's most iconic voices are among the eight finalists for the 2017 edition of the award.
White Sox television broadcaster Ken "Hawk" Harrelson and Cubs radio play-by-play man Pat Hughes were joined by six others on this year's ballot, which was announced Monday. The winner will be announced during the Winter Meetings.
Together, Harrelson and Hughes have spent nearly 50 years calling Chicago baseball games. Harrelson has spent 26 years behind the microphone for White Sox games, and Hughes has been calling Cubs contests for the past 21 seasons.
