Paul Konerko wasn't hard to replace in the White Sox lineup because he seldom played during his final season.
But replacing Konerko in the Sox clubhouse has been more problematic, especially for a team that needs someone to stand up during the rough start it's going through.
There may be plenty of viable candidates, but no one seems to want the job.
As the Sox prepare to retire Konerko's No. 14 on Saturday at U.S. Cellular Field, the question of who will emerge as the next leader remains unanswered.
"It hasn't even been a year," assistant hitting coach Harold Baines said.
