Showing a willingness to test out their kids, the White Sox extended rookie outfielder Trayce Thompson's stay in the big leagues when they designated Emilio Bonifacio for assignment before Sunday's game at U.S. Cellular Field.
The Sox made the move as they reinstated outfielder J.B. Shuck off the disabled list from a left hamstring strain. They invested $4 million in Bonifacio over the winter with the hopes he would be a solid, versatile option off the bench, but while he was well liked in the clubhouse, he hit just .167 with four RBIs over 47 games.
