Before the White Sox put on their baggy, collared jerseys for Throwback Thursday at U.S. Cellular Field, manager Robin Ventura wished his players would "channel a little South Side Hit Men and score some runs."
It must have been the uniforms — or maybe a Mariners pitcher making his first major-league start since July 2.
With the 1970s-era navy and white shirts hanging down below their waists, the Sox followed Wednesday's scoreless outing with a 4-2 victory over the Mariners and left-hander Roenis Elias on Thursday.
"The Ed Farmer uniforms? I like them," Ventura said of the uniforms most famously worn by the 1977 offense-heavy Hit Men.
