The White Sox declined to offer Tyler Flowers a contract on Wednesday night, making him a free agent.
The team announced it has tendered contracts to four of its six arbitration-eligible players, including Avisail Garcia, Zach Putnam, Dan Jennings and Nate Jones. Jacob Turner, who was claimed off waivers from the Cubs this offseason, also was non-tendered.
The team’s starting catcher since 2013, Flowers hit .239/.295/.356 with nine homers and 39 RBIs in 361 plate appearances this season.

The White Sox apparently made Flowers expendable last week with the signing of free-agent catcher Alex Avila to a one-year deal worth $2.
