GLENDALE, Ariz. -- White Sox catching coordinator John Orton heard the same reports everyone else did about Zack Collins.
“The word on the street was, ‘OK, obviously the bat is probably there but it’s the defense that people were questioning,’” Orton said.
The first thing Orton looks for in any catching prospect is his hands; how quick and soft they are, whether the player is catching the ball confidently and whether they look like they know how to handle high-level stuff.
“His hands were great," Orton said. "He’s catches the ball nice, strong, good hands. He moves well back there as far as.
