The Cody Asche experiment is over. After their 9-3 win on Sunday, the Chicago White Sox optioned the 26-year-old infielder to Triple-A Charlotte. The Sox promoted pitcher Gregory Infante to take Asche’s spot on the 25-man roster on Monday.
Asche played in just 19 games, mostly serving as the designated hitter. However, he didn’t live up to expectations and wasn’t a serviceable option.
He was hitting a terrible .105 with one home run and four RBIs. His on-base percentage was equally woeful at .177 and he struck out 21 times in 62 plate appearances.
