White Sox claim third baseman Mike Olt off waivers from the Cubs

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The White Sox claimed infielder Mike Olt off waivers from the Cubs on Saturday before the Sox’s game against the Royals at Kauffman Stadium.

Olt, 27, was the Cubs’ opening day third baseman, but he played in just six major-league games this season because he suffered a fractured right wrist in early April when he was hit with a pitch. He recovered to play in 62 games with the Cubs’ Double A and Triple A teams this season, hitting .273 with 16 doubles, nine home runs and 25 RBIs.
