The White Sox added another outfielder on Wednesday, claiming Jerry Sands off waivers fron the Indians.
The 29-year-old Sands hit .236 with four home runs and 19 RBI in 50 games last year. He's a career .238 hitter over parts of four seasons with the Dodgers, Rays and Indians. A corner outfielder who can also play first base, the right-handed hitting Sands has a career .846 OPS against left-handed pitching.
The Sox recently dealt outfielder Trayce Thompson to the Dodgers in the three-way deal that netted third baseman Todd Frazier from the Reds.
