White Sox claim outfielder Daniel Fields off waivers

The White Sox claimed outfielder Daniel Fields off waivers from the Dodgers on Thursday.

Fields, a 24-year-old left-handed hitter, played 122 games with the Tigers’ Triple-A team in 2015, hitting .228 with 25 doubles, seven home runs, 41 RBIs, 17 stolen bases and a .335 on-base percentage. He played in his first and only major-league game with the Tigers on June 4, going 1-for-3.

A Tigers’ sixth-round draft pick in 2009, he was ranked the best defensive outfielder in the Tigers’ system after the 2012 and 2013 seasons by Baseball America.

Fields had been claimed off waivers by the Brewers and Dodgers since September.
