CHICAGO -- Always in the hunt for pitching help, the Chicago White Sox are taking a chance on former highly-acclaimed prospect Jacob Turner, claiming him off waivers from the Chicago Cubs.
The move was revealed on the transactions page at MLB.com.
The 24-year-old Turner was the ninth overall selection in the 2009 draft by the Detroit Tigers out of Westminster Christian High School in St. Louis. He made his major league debut in 2011 with the Tigers, barely a month after his 20th birthday, and has since been traded to the Miami Marlins (July, 2012) and the Cubs (August, 2014).
