The Chicago White Sox announced on Tuesday that outfielder Charlie Tilson and relief pitcher Thyago Vieira had been optioned to Triple-A Charlotte. In total, the team sent eight players to minor league camp.
Tilson, who was vying for the starting center field job to begin this season, only hit .188 in four spring games for the Sox. The 25-year-old will get more time to develop with Charlotte as he works to make a return to the majors. The Sox could start the season with either Adam Engel or Ryan Cordell in center field.
