White Sox catcher Geovany Soto to have arthroscopic surgery on right elbow

White Sox catcher Geovany Soto will undergo arthroscopic surgery to remove loose bodies from his right elbow Tuesday, the team announced.

Soto's recovery is expected to take a minimum of 12 weeks, and the Sox placed him on the 60-day disabled list Monday.

Kevan Smith was called up last week to fill in when Soto was placed on the 10-day DL with elbow pain, and Smith and Omar Narvaez will share catching duties.

The Sox called up right-hander Gregory Infante from Triple-A Charlotte before Monday's series opener against the Angels in Anaheim.
