The White Sox could be scrambling to find another catcher after Alex Avila exited Tuesday’s game early with a right hamstring strain.
The club announced Avila would be re-evaluated on Wednesday. He left the game in the sixth inning and was replaced by Dioner Navarro.
Avila — who was hitting .231/.361/.347 with six RBIs in 147 plate appearances this season — also went on the disabled list in April with a hamstring strain.
Catching depth is yet another area where the White Sox are extremely thin.
Kevan Smith injured his back in April and has only played one Triple-A game since.
