White Sox call up Willy Garcia, plan to start all-Garcia outfield

The White Sox called up Triple-A Charlotte outfielder Willy Garcia before Friday’s series opener against the Twins at Target Field.

Garica is up for the weekend to replace Melky Cabrera, who is on the paternity list for the birth of his fourth child, a daughter.

Garcia was set to make his major-league debut Friday night and play as part of an all-Garcia Sox outfield. Leury Garcia was in the starting lineup in center field, and Avisail Garcia was in right field.

Garcia, 24, was a Sox waivers claim in January from the Pirates, a team he had been with since he signed out of the Dominican Republic in 2010.
