The White Sox recalled second baseman Micah Johnson from Triple-A Charlotte before Tuesday’s game against the Indians at U.S. Cellular Field.
Johnson, the opening day second baseman, has been with Charlotte since May 14, when the Sox optioned him to continue work on his defense and baserunning. He hit .270 with two doubles, three RBIs, eight runs and three stolen bases in 27 major-league games this season.
He hit .315 with 17 doubles, three triples, eight homers, 36 RBIs, 54 runs and 28 stolen bases in 78 games with Charlotte this season.
Johnson will join a crowded infield that includes Carlos Sanchez -- who replaced him at second base -- Alexei Ramirez, Tyler Saladino, Gordon Beckham and Mike Olt all vying for time at second base, shortstop and third base in the final month.
