As the White Sox evaluate this month which of their infield options have the potential to stick in 2016, they added a familiar Chicago name to the mix.
The Sox claimed infielder Mike Olt off waivers from the Cubs on Saturday before the Sox's 6-1 victory over the Royals at Kauffman Stadium. Olt, the 27-year-old who was the Cubs' opening day third baseman, was not yet with the Sox on Saturday but is expected to join them within the next few days.
Olt joins an already crowded infield, but Sox manager Robin Ventura said he potentially could fill a need for which the Sox don't have many options, except for struggling minor-leaguer Matt Davidson, who remains at Triple-A Charlotte.
