Alexei Ramirez was so relieved to join Jose Valentin as the only White Sox shortstop to hit 100 home runs that he hit another in the nightcap on Saturday.
Off to what he has described as a slow and “frustrating” start, Ramirez broke out with five hits in eight at-bats on Saturday, including a home run in each game of the team’s doubleheader. His two-run shot in the second inning of the second game gave the White Sox the lead in a contest they won 8-2.
“Yes (I was relieved), and I feel happy also because it’s part of the reward and the help that many people put in me,” Ramirez said through an interpreter.
