CHICAGO — The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms on a one-year, $4-million contract with veteran outfielder Jon Jay and have designated outfielder Charlie Tilson for assignment.

Jay, 33, split the 2018 season between Kansas City and Arizona, combining to hit .268 (141–527) with 19 doubles, seven triples, three home runs, 40 RBI and 74 runs scored over 143 games. His seven triples were a career high, while his 74 runs scored and 586 plate appearances both were the second-highest marks of his career.

Jay, 5-foot-11 and 195 pounds, batted .307 (73–238) in 59 games with the Royals last season before being traded to the Diamondbacks on June 6 as part of a three-player deal.
