The White Sox added high school shortstop Lency Delgado and University of Indiana right-hander Jonathan Stiever in the fourth and fifth rounds, respectively, of the MLB draft on Tuesday.
Delgado, a senior at Doral (Fla.) Academy Prep, led the Firebirds with 13 home runs and helped lead them to their first state appearance. Stiever led the Big Ten with 97 strikeouts in 101 1/3 innings.
Delgado is the second shortstop the Sox have drafted in as many days. On Monday, they used the fourth overall pick on Oregon State’s Nick Madrigal, a line-drive hitter who is regarded as a student of the game.
