On the surface, and without context, the words went against everything the White Sox have done to prepare Carlos Rodon for the regular season.
"You're not a guy who can move slow," pitching coach Don Cooper said to Rodon on Friday morning, urging his pitcher to pick up the pace during a side session. "Find your happy place."
Slowly is exactly how the Sox have handled the left-hander. But that's about to change. Rodon will make his first start of the spring Sunday against the Angels and could make as many as three before the season.
