Moments before the second game of Monday’s doubleheader against the Minnesota Twins, the Chicago White Sox announced center fielder Luis Robert had been cleared for a rehab assignment.
The Sox had another reason to be happy a couple of hours later when rookie right fielder Gavin Sheets hit a walk-off three-run home run.
Sox manager Tony La Russa is excited for what’s ahead, with Robert starting his rehab assignment Wednesday with Class A Winston-Salem and left fielder Eloy Jiménez in the midst of a rehab assignment at Triple-A Charlotte.
“The fact is (Robert) and Eloy are huge parts of this club,” La Russa said Monday night.
