When future White Sox stud Michael Kopech pitches, you can’t look away

It’s a sultry afternoon in the South, and White Sox minor-league coaches are analyzing Michael Kopech’s every movement.

As Kopech unleashes pitches in the bullpen at the Durham Bulls’ ballpark, the sweat stains grow on his workout jersey, turning it dark gray.

The sweat drips into Kopech’s eyes, briefly halting the side session.

“It’s good for you,” ribs Charlotte Knights pitching coach Steve McCatty. “Fight through it.”

Fellow Triple-A reliever Jordan Stephens also is observing the bullets coming from Kopech, who once stated a goal of hitting 107 mph.
