Nick Madrigal had a knack for making contact while advancing through the minor leagues. It continued in his rookie major-league campaign.
Madrigal batted .340 (35-for-103) in 29 games after being called up from the Schaumburg training facility July 31. He had 11 RBIs and struck out just seven times, the fewest in the majors for batters with at least 100 plate appearances.
Madrigal was tough with two strikes, hitting .321 (18-for-56) with two doubles and eight RBIs.
