They’ve strengthened their rotation this offseason with a trade, acquiring starter Lance Lynn from the Texas Rangers in exchange for pitcher Dane Dunning and pitching prospect Avery Weems. Lynn’s arrival gives the Sox one of the top trios of starters in the AL as he joins Lucas Giolito and Dallas Keuchel.
The trade was announced Dec. 8, which was only two days before the Sox finished the virtual winter meetings with another move, signing outfielder Adam Eaton to a one-year, $8 million contract. Eaton played for the Sox from 2014-16 but was traded to the Washington Nationals for Giolito, Dunning and pitcher Reynaldo Lopez in December 2016.
