The rebuild has a new star.
The White Sox added another big name to a highly touted group that includes the likes of Michael Kopech, Eloy Jimenez, Luis Robert, Alec Hansen, Dane Dunning, Dylan Cease and Zack Collins, spending the No. 4 pick in this year’s MLB Draft on Nick Madrigal, a second baseman out of Oregon State.
The first thing anyone will notice about Madrigal is his height — or lack thereof. He’s listed at 5-foot-7 and became just the second middle infielder at 5-foot-8 or shorter to be selected in the first round since 1965 (the other, ironically enough, is former White Sox infielder Joey Cora).
