Trayce Thompson salvaged what looked to be an ugly night full of mistakes of the White Sox on Tuesday.
The rookie outfielder doubled in the go-ahead runs in the seventh inning as part of a three-hit night and the White Sox topped the Boston Red Sox, 5-4, in front of 14,393 at U.S. Cellular Field. Thompson, who finished a home run shy of the cycle, drove in three runs to help the White Sox to their fourth win in six tries. David Robertson pitched a perfect ninth to convert his 26th save.
This looked like anything but a banner night for the White Sox before Thompson closed out the three-run rally in the seventh.
