When Trayce Thompson's left arm bent awkwardly under his weight during a rolling dive in right field Monday night, White Sox manager Robin Ventura originally feared one of the more promising developments of the last two months could be shut down early.
But before Tuesday night's game with the Athletics at U.S. Cellular Field, Ventura and Thompson were optimistic that his hyperextended left elbow wasn't as serious as it looked on the field and that the rookie outfielder could return to a late-season run that has convinced Ventura he's "a big-league player."
"It's nothing serious," Thompson said.
