One of Tom Seaver’s greatest moments occurred in a Chicago White Sox uniform, the team he spent three seasons with near the end of his brilliant Hall of Fame career.
Seaver, who died Wednesday at 75, recorded his 300th win on Aug. 4, 1985, at Yankee Stadium, playing in front of thousands of New York Mets fans who ventured to the Bronx to watch their former hero reach a coveted milestone.
“It was like I was levitating on the mound,” Seaver told reporters afterward. “It was a constant emotional drain. The last time I’d felt like that was when I had a perfect game going against the Cubs in 1969.
