A 7-0 win over Detroit made it three straight shutouts for the White Sox. The Tigers were the victims of all three whitewashes: Clark Griffith’s 2-0 win on July 31, Nixey Callahan’s 4-0 one-hitter (the first in Sox history) on August 1, and Roy Patterson’s 7-0 two-hitter to end the run. Both of Patterson’s safeties allowed were singles, and he faced the near-minimum of 28 batters. Herm McFarland and Jimmy Burke both doubled for the South Siders, driving in five of the seven runs of the day.
