White Sox designated hitter Matt Davidson started his season off right Thursday afternoon to help the Sox to an 11-2 victory over the Tigers at Guaranteed Rate Field.
In just his second Sox big-league start, Davidson tripled, walked and homered in his first three plate appearances against the Tigers.
Davidson was playing in his first Sox game since June 30, 2016, when he broke his foot while running the bases. He needed season-ending surgery on the foot and fought his way back to earn a roster spot this spring.
His triple to right-center field off Tigers left-hander Matthew Boyd helped spark the Sox to a two-run second inning.
