Thursday's recap: Red Sox 7, White Sox 3

White Sox right-hander Erik Johnson gave up four earned runs over five innings, and the Red Sox topped the White Sox 7-3 on Thursday night at U.S. Cellular Field. Johnson was called up from Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday to fill the roster spot of John Danks, whom the White Sox cut this week.

Adam Eaton singled, advanced on a wild pitch, stole third base and scored when Jose Abreu hit into a double play in the first inning against Red Sox left-hander Henry Owens.

But the White Sox wasted several opportunities to pull ahead, leaving nine on base in the first five innings.
