Chicago Cubs President Theo Epstein spoke candidly during his season-ending conference call with reporters that lasted slightly more than an hour Monday.
Before answering questions about his future with the Cubs and repairing the offense, Epstein expressed the organization’s condolences to the family of Danielle Breed, 34, who police suspect was murdered by her ex-boyfriend Charlie Haeger on Friday in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Haeger, 37, a pitching coach for the Cubs’ Double-A Tennessee affiliate and a former Chicago White Sox pitcher, was found dead one day later of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the Grand Canyon.
