Since he was a youngster, Danny Mendick has been dreaming the dream of many young boys. He wanted to make it to the major leagues. And this week as big-league rosters expanded, his life-long goal was realized. The versatile infielder/outfielder was called up to the White Sox from Class AAA Charlotte and made an appearance in a big-league box score for the first time on Tuesday night as a pinch-runner in the Sox’ 6–5 victory over the Indians in Cleveland (see screen grab above).
“It was awesome,” The 25-year-old Mendick told whitesox.com’s Scott Merkin after the game.
