A gunman was arrested after allegedly firing gunshots into a house Thursday in north suburban Beach Park, prompting lockdowns at area schools.
Someone called 911 at 10:35 a.m. to report gunshots fired into his home in the 12900 block of West Wakefield Drive in Beach Park, according to a statement from the Lake County sheriff’s office.
Deputies arrived and learned that no one had been struck by the gunfire, the sheriff’s office said. The suspect left the area in a vehicle, but he has since been taken into custody.
Some schools in the area were temporarily placed on a soft lockdown “out of an abundance of caution” while police searched for the suspect, the sheriff’s office said.
