Stop dreaming, White Sox fans — Michael Kopech to start season in minors

Michael Kopech has lived up to the hype this spring as the highly-touted right-hander has not allowed an earned run during his first two Cactus League starts for the White Sox.

The Sox’s top pitching prospect and No. 10 overall as ranked by MLB Pipeline is 1-0 and has allowed four hits with a walk and six strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings while hitting 99 mph on the radar gun.

Kopech is scheduled to start for the Sox against the Royals on Thursday at Camelback Ranch but no matter what happens in that game — and any other future spring outings — general manager Rick Hahn said the 21-year-old is ticketed to start the season at Triple-A Charlotte.
