Starter Miguel Gonzalez exits with groin strain in 2-1 loss to Royals

Right-hander Miguel Gonzalez joined a long list of injured White Sox players when he exited Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Royals with a right groin strain.

On a 3-2 pitch to Royals designated-hitter Salvador Perez in the second inning, Gonzalez pulled up slightly, and Sox staff and players went out to check on him as he fidgeted on the mound.

He walked slowly out of the game after throwing one scoreless inning with one hit and one strikeout, and the Sox announced they would update his status Friday. The Sox already have nine players either on the 15- or 60-day disabled lists, and this was another unfortunate departure considering how well Gonzalez had pitched recently.
