The White Sox had to hustle to catch the train to Detroit. The Tigers probably wished they missed their ride.

The White Sox opened a five-game series against Detroit with a sound 5-1 victory. The middle of the order did the heavy lifting, as Eddie Collins, Joe Jackson and Happy Felsch contributed seven of the White Sox’ 10 hits and all five of their RBIs.

They all connected in the first inning. After Buck Weaver reached on an error, Collins singled him to third, Jackson singled Collins to third to score Weaver, and Happy Felsch scored Collins with a fielder’s choice.
