Lance Lynn’s energy is volcanic. On the surface, he’s stone-faced and speaks in a steady monotone, but in moments of triumph he spits, roars, and his emotions flow like lava.
Lynn is a self-described asshole on the mound, but I don’t know if that’s an accurate assessment. He has plowed through the 2021 season like a bulldozer, but he’s done it with calculated intent, not so much interested in strikeouts as he is in retiring the side in the most economical way possible.
It’s worked beautifully. With a league-leading ERA of 1.23, Lynn has looked like the best winter trade the White Sox have made in recent memory.
