CHICAGO -- A roller-coaster season will end in shoulder surgery for Adam Eaton, as the center fielder and leadoff man reluctantly admitted Sunday that he will undergo an arthroscopic procedure Monday.
For most of the second half of the season, Eaton has dealt with left shoulder issues, hurting himself on a dive in the outfield in July and then aggravating the injury again in August on another play in the outfield.
