Right-hander Anthony Ranaudo to start for White Sox on Wednesday

Anthony Ranaudo homered and pitched a quality start against the Cubs in a one-day appearance for the White Sox last month. Now the 26-year-old right-hander will receive at least a couple more opportunities to show the Sox what he can do.

Ranaudo will be called up from Triple-A Charlotte and will start Wednesday’s game against the Indians at Progressive Field, filling in for right-hander Miguel Gonzalez, who is on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right groin.

Sox manager Robin Ventura said Ranaudo could pitch in the rotation until Gonzalez is ready to return.
