GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Day 2 of White Sox camp found Yoan Moncada manning second base in the first prolonged infield practice of spring training. Only a few recognizable White Sox infielders beyond Tim Anderson, Yolmer Sanchez and Everth Cabrera have reported early, but it’s hard to imagine it would be hard to pick out Moncada even from a distance.
Amid a group of nimble middle infielders, Moncada is a roving linebacker, who looks as though an average second baseman decided to wear 20 extra t-shirts under his windbreaker. The sight of him tells the basic story of his prospect outlook: a player with way more power hitting potential than you typically see manning a middle infield position, even in a year after AL second.
