The stakes are high Friday, as Major League Baseball is expected to respond to the players association’s latest counterproposal.
The owners will propose a 70-75 game season, ESPN’s Karl Ravech first reported, with players receiving at least 80 percent of their already prorated salaries. The owners’ last offer was for a 76-game season with 75 percent of prorated salaries. The cost to the owners remained similar between their two most recent proposals.
The MLBPA has consistently called for 100 percent of players' prorated salaries, so there’s no guarantee that the players will agree to MLB’s latest proposal
The threat of a 50-game looms in the background.
