Report: Former White Sox slugger Carlos Quentin to retire

Former White Sox slugger Carlos Quentin is in the process of retiring, according to a Friday-afternoon report.

Sources: Carlos Quentin in process of retiring. Will receive rest of $8M salary. #Braves had released him from guaranteed major-league deal.

Quentin, who most recently played in the majors with the Padres last season, spent four seasons of his nine-year big league career on the South Side, making a pair of American League All-Star teams during his time with the White Sox.
