Evan Marshall has been a vital part of the Chicago White Sox bullpen the last two seasons, and on Thursday the sides came to terms on a one-year, $2 million deal, avoiding arbitration.
Marshall averaged a career-best 11.91 strikeouts per nine innings and limited opponents to a .198 average (17-for-86), including .119 (5-for-42) against left-handed hitters.
He’s part of a bullpen that ranked fifth in the American League with a 3.76 ERA in 2020. Closer Alex Colome is a free agent, but Aaron Bummer, Jimmy Cordero, Jace Fry, Codi Heuer and Matt Foster join Marshall among the returning relievers.
