In 2012, the White Sox decided to take a chance with their first-round draft pick and selected toolsy outfielder Courtney Hawkins, who famously did a backflip on camera. Hawkins has yet to find his footing in the minors and as of Aug. 14, he’s hitting .211 in the Southern League. In 2013, the White Sox took a different kind of risk in selecting shortstop Tim Anderson from a junior college.
