Right-handed pitcher Edwin Jackson broke into the big leagues on Sept. 9, 2003, when at age 20 he started for the Dodgers and lasted six innings in a 4-1 victory over the Diamondbacks in Phoenix.
Fifteen seasons later, he’s about to do something only one other major-league player has done.
Jackson, 34, who signed a minor-league deal with the Athletics on June 6, is expected to be called up Monday to start against the Tigers in Detroit, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reported Saturday. If he does, the A’s would be Jackson’s 13th major-league team, matching Octavio Dotel’s record.
